01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
At Satoyama, you can enjoy a meal in the same place after a soak or a session in the heated stone sauna at Nobeha no Yu Tsuruhashi. Some diners have a beer and a meal after bathing; others come for dinner without using the baths. The menu works for groups who want to share a few small plates, as well as for solo diners, and reservations are accepted.
For a more substantial meal, consider one of the lunchtime set meals. The seared offal tantan sesame hot-pot set comes with a small serving of chilled tofu, half a portion of ramen noodles, rice and pickles. The chicken nanban set includes chilled tofu, rice, pickles and miso soup. One diner who had offal chige after a soak said it was spicy with a hint of sweetness. Whether you fancy a hot, spicy pot or a set meal with rice and soup, there are options to suit your appetite and mood.
At dinner, you can also pair a post-bath drink with izakaya-style dishes. Yakitori is available as a mixed selection of 5 kinds, as well as individual skewers such as negima and tsukune. The oden selection includes daikon, egg, thick fried tofu and burdock tempura. A visitor also described ordering fried double cartilage and corn butter with a child, as well as a rich, soft omelette curry—dishes that bring to mind a table made for sharing.
For something sweet, choose shaved ice in strawberry, mango or melon flavours, or soft serve with toppings such as condensed milk, matcha and azuki beans. The menu also includes strawberry milk and strawberry soda with fruit pieces, along with mango and berry milk drinks. They make a tempting follow-up for anyone in the mood for one more sweet treat.
